Featuring live bands playing Afrobeat and Soukous, African dancing and drumming troupes, Gospel Acts, Street dancing alongside DJs spinning the best in contemporary African music from High Life in the West through to Kwaito in the South.


We have created the “African Bazaar” for you to experience the exceptional colour, vibrancy and richness of African market life.

A key highlight will be the range of African food and drink on offer.


A carnival of sounds, colours and tastes, the Out of Africa festival looks set to grab the public’s imaginations and leave them with a connection to Africa for years to come.

The Out of Africa festival is running alongside the the London African Music Festival. Now in its fourth year, the London African Music Festival brings the essential music from one of the world's most dynamic cultures in all its glorious forms to the South Bank of the River Thames.

Highlights include some of Africa’s greatest living performers in Ethipoia’s Mahmoud Ahmed (26 May), Congo’s Kanda Bongo Man (27 May) and Nigeria’s Queen Salawa Abeni (29 May); all regularly pack stadiums in Africa and have sold millions of records worldwide.

Also featured in the festival is Bonga (24 May), ‘the godfather of Angolan music’, making his first appearance London Then on 28 May is the largest showcase of Madagascan music held outside of the country, Madagascar Allstars, 28 May.
