The theme for this year’s Shoreditch Festival is Journeys and what better way to celebrate than with a trip to Africa. Shoreditch: Africa is back with yet another spectacular event in Haggerston Park.

Dress up and head down to the park for a day of live music, dancing, performance and fun.

We have put together for your pleasure a right royal jamboree of African proportions that welcomes all of London’s communities to experience and celebrate the richness and diversity of African culture in the Capital.

Featuring bands and solo artists providing traditional and contemporary music from nations such as Somalia, Tanzania, Congo and Gambia.

Savour mouth-watering food from Uganda, Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Dance to a range of African beats such as Kwaito, High Life, Tassou and Afro beat brought to you by top DJs from Kenya, Rwanda, Eritrea and South Africa.

African culture is not a spectator’s sport, so get interactive with African mask making, gumboot dancing and Djembe drum workshops, plus exciting rugby demonstrations by London Nigeria rugby team.

Take in an art exhibition displaying remarkable metal and stone sculptures from Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Be amazed by acrobats, drummers and dancers from Angola, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Mali, Togo, Sierra Leone and Sudan.

We are extremely proud to present the “Hackney’s Finest” stage, showcasing the talents of Africans in Hackney; providing you with performances ranging from gospel singing, street dancing and hip-hop to Kora Orchestras, masquerade performances and spoken word.

We’ve recreated an African market for you to experience its vibrancy, colour, noise and energy. Get your hands on clothes, books, toys, games, accessories, ornaments and much, much more.

See you there!
